 Ben spent this weekend as a guest at the Stargate conventions in Sydney and Melbourne Austrailia. The events also featured Richard Dean Anderson, Claudia Black, Christopher Judge, Dan Shea, David Nykl, Conner Trinneer, David Blue, Julie Caitlin Brown, and Jason Palmer. In Sydney, Farscape fans were treated to an event that featured Ben, Claudia, and Gigi Edgely.
Thanks to the some very happy Benaholics the Portal is going to have plenty of convention goodies to share. But we have to give them time to get home and to recover. Patience Benaholics! The details are on the way.
February 3rd
The Portal now has a brand new collection of Ben Browder post cards in our Multi-Media section, as always, with the help of some of Ben's very talented fans. Keep those cards and letters going!!
It’s been a long time since we felt the need for a good old fashioned fan campaign! Following the lead of Angie from BenBrowder.net, the Portal is calling on Ben fans to voice their support for casting Ben in a project currently in development by Paramount Studios.
The movie is based on a novel written by Lee Child called “One Shot” and it centers around a character named Jack Reacher. Ben Browder is perfect for this role! (Official website)
"Medals?" she asked.
He shrugged. "Dozens of the damn things," he said. "You know how it is. Theater medals, of course, plus a Silver Star, two Bronzes, Purple Heart from Beirut, campaign things from Panama and Grenada and Desert Shield and Desert Storm."
"A Silver Star?" she asked. "What for?"
"Beirut," he said. "Pulled some guys out of the bunker."
"And you got wounded doing that?" she said. "That's how you got the scar and the Purple Heart?"
"I was already wounded," he said. "Got wounded before I went in. I think that was what impressed them."
We hear through the grapevine that Mr. Child likes Ben for the role of Jack Reacher. Paramount, however, is looking for a “name”. Sounds like now is the time for Ben’s fans to speak up for the sexiest man in science fiction. We already know that Ben Browder has the talent to bring this hardcore military hero to life. He’s perfect for the part. Right down to those “icy blue eyes”! Let’s see what we can do to point out the obvious to the studio:

We're celebrating the New Year with a blast from the past! The Portal's convention gallery now has pictures from the earliest Farscape Burbank conventions. Ben Browder, Francesca Buller, Claudia Black, Tammy Macintosh, Gigi Edgley, Anthony Simcoe, Lani Tupu, Ricky Manning, and Wayne Pygram pictures that are sure to bring back memories thanks to the efforts of long-time Farscape fan and Benaholic, SurfWidow. The 2001 convention featured a rare appearance of Tammy "The Tummy" Macintosh while the 2003 convention was the year Claudia Black sang and played her guitar. Of course, every year was a great year for Benaholics to see Ben!

 Recently, LotsOfInterviews.com interviewed Ben Browder about Farscape and Stargate.
SciFi Talk has a REALLY nice podcast with two conversations with Ben. An extensive 2001 interview with Ben discussing Farscape, drama school, fan conventions and Farscape action figures. Followed by a 2009 interview which focused more on Freeze Frame, Stargate SG-1, and Farscape. Ben's charm, intelligence, and sense of humor shine through in both conversations!
Scapecast has a new podcast for the holidays. At the end is an official announcement that Ben Browder has been hired to direct Farscape webisodes in Austrailia when the long awaited funding is found!
